Activity Title:
Consultant for technical assistance for business processing reengineering and definition of digital systems in the port ecosystem, and establishment of an institutional governance framework for port ecosystem digitalization.
Details:
The Government of Grenada, in collaboration with the World Bank Group, is embarking on a transformative journey toward a digitally empowered future. The Caribbean region faces persistent connectivity and logistics challenges, including high transport costs, fragmented infrastructure, and limited inter-island connectivity, which constrain trade, economic growth, and regional integration. Outdated port and airport systems and heavy reliance on maritime transport further contribute to inefficiencies and supply chain vulnerabilities.
In response, the World Bank is supporting the preparation of the Caribbean Connectivity and Logistics Regional Program (MPA), a multi-phase initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency, sustainability, and governance of the region’s connectivity and logistics sector. The program is structured around three pillars: (i) strengthening institutional and regulatory frameworks; (ii) improving the quality and efficiency of ports, border crossings, and logistics services; and (iii) providing regional support through capacity building, policy dialogue, and technical assistance.
To support preparation, grant financing from the Grant Facility for Project Preparation (GFPP) has been mobilized for Belize and participating OECS countries, including Grenada. The financing supports technical studies, capacity building, and regional policy engagement to advance readiness and promote coordinated regional solutions.
